Shaheen Afridi creates history with four wickets in the first over

Pakistan’s ace pace bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi has broken the internet after picking four wickets in the very first over of the inning. Despite his record over, his team ended up on the losing side.

Playing for Nottinghamshire in the T20 Blast 2023, Shaheen picked up four wickets against Birmingham Bears. The left-arm pacer’s first ball resulted in five wides, but he quickly turned the tide by taking wickets with his subsequent deliveries. He struck on his first, second, fifth, and sixth legal deliveries to bag four wickets in a single over.

He started by dismissing Alex Davies (0) on the first ball and then got rid of Chris Benjamin (0) on the second ball. Although he missed out on a hat-trick, he didn’t lose momentum and took his third wicket by dismissing Dan Mousley (1) on the fifth ball. And to top it off, he wrapped up the over by dismissing Ed Barnard for a duck.

Despite Shaheen’s heroic first over, Nottinghamshire were unable to defend 168 runs as they faced a narrow two-wicket loss. Opener Rob Yates was the star for Birmingham with 65 runs.

Afridi couldn’t take any wickets in the next three overs and ended up with a figure of four for 29 in his four overs.
