ACC Premier Cup

Singapore ends the tournament without a single win

Singapore had a forgetful outing to Nepal as they couldn’t register a single win in the ACC Premier Cup. Aritra Dutta’s side were beaten by Kuwait in their last group-stage match at TU Cricket Ground on Tuesday.

Invited to bat first, Singapore were wrapped up for a mere 113 runs in 31.4 overs. Opener Amartya Kaul top scored with 45 runs. Manpreet Singh and Thilipan Omaidurai added 28 and 13 runs, while other batters couldn’t cross the double-digit figure.

Mohammed Aslam was the pick of a bowler grabbing a fifer. He conceded just 20 runs from 8.4 overs, bowling two maiden overs. Shriz Khan also dismissed three batters.

In reply, Kuwait chased the target in 26.3 overs, winning the match by four wickets. Adnan Idrees scored 28-ball 38, while Meet Bhavsar and Yasin Patel remained unbeaten for 27 and 21 runs.

For Singapore, Vinoth Baskaran and Akshya Puri pocketed two wickets each.

Singapore started the tournament with a loss against Hong Kong, followed by a defeat against Bahrain and UAE.

Kuwait, on the other hand, has four points from three matches and needs a win against Hong Kong in the last match to book a semifinal spot.
