Stats: Nepal’s leading run-scorer and wicket-taker in T20I

Nepal is set to host the Asian region’s qualification tournament for the T20 World Cup Qualifiers. Two teams will book a spot in T20 World Cup from the qualification.

Nepal last played a T20I match against Kenya in August 2022, where they won the five-match series 3-2 under the captaincy of Sandeep Lamichhane. Nepal are in a terrific run after the appointment of Monty Desai as a new head coach. But Nepal is yet to play a T20I match under Desai.

In a total of 57 matches played, Nepal has turned out victorious in 33 matches and ended up on the losing side on 23 occasions, while one concluded with no result.

Gyanendra Malla has played the most matches (45), followed by Dipendra Singh Airee (44), Sandeep Lamichhane and Karan KC (44 each). So, who is the most prolific batter for Nepal in T20?

Having debuted against the Netherlands at TU Cricket Ground in April 2021, Aasif has played 20 innings. He has scored 468 runs scoring a couple of half-centuries.

4. Kushal Bhurtel

Kushal Bhurtel made his debut alongside his opening partner Aasif Sheikh. Bhurtel made a record of scoring three consecutive fifties in the first three matches of the career. He has 573 runs to his name from just 16 matches, with five fifties and one ton. He averages 47.75 and has the SR of 129.34, the most by a Nepalese batter(at least 300 runs).

Nepal’s captain in debut T20I match and the first centurion for the country, Paras, has played 33 matches for Nepal. He has 799 runs to his name, with four half-centuries and one century.

2. Gyanendra Malla

Despite playing 45 matches, Gyanendra Malla has batted only in 39 innings and has scored 883 runs. Malla has scored the most number of sixes (36) for Nepal in the format. He has one ton and a couple of 50+ scores as well.

Dipendra is the only batter to cross 1000+ runs for Nepal in the format. He has 1103 runs with five half-centuries and one hundred from 39 innings. Airee has also faced the most balls (834) and has the most fours (88).

Sompal Kami has played 42 matches in his eight* years of T20I career. He has picked up 38 wickets and has bowled the highest number of maiden overs (4) so far.

3. Abinash Bohara

Abinash Bohara is known as Nepal’s T20I specialist bowler. He has picked up 40 wickets from 35 innings. Despite bowling in death overs, He has a good economy rate of 6.91.

2. Karan KC

Karan KC is one of two bowlers to have picked up a fifer and 50+ wickets for Nepal in the format. The pacer has 60 wickets to his name from 43 innings.

1. Sandeep Lamichhane

Sandeep Lamichhane is the most successful Nepalese bowler in both ODI and T20I. He has picked up 85 wickets from just 43 innings with an economy of 6.36 and a healthy average and SR of 12.42 and 11.70, respectively. He also holds the record for best bowling figure (Five for Nine).
