Thames college lifted the K&K BBA Cup defeating Campion College by 5 wickets in the final match played today at Sanik Aawasiya Mahavidyalaya Cricket Ground, Bhaktapur.
Winning the toss and batting first Campion on a worn out pitch served a dismal batting performance getting knocked over for just 66 runs in 15.2 overs. Campion was once 14-5 and even 50 runs seems a tough climb for them. Opener bowlers for Thames Ashish Singh and Rustam Karki ran havoc through Campions’ batting line up. Rustam bagged 3 and Ashish bagged 2 of the first five wickets.
It was Inesh Mahrajan and opener Aman Agrawal who restored some order in the final match adding 36 runs for the sixth wicket. The duo took Champion to 50 runs but things started going downhill for Champion once again when Aman was bowled by Sagar Malla for 16. Sagar ran through Campion’s lower-order taking two more wickets.
Inesh who top scored with 24 off just 27 balls was the last batsman to be dismissed for Campion, getting caught off Rustam Karki. Karki finished with impressive figures of 3.2-0-6-4.
Chasing a very low total Thames was always at ease. The openers Sudeep Chaurasiya(15) and Bhabhav Raj(14) had added 32 for the first wicket in just 4.2 overs and they had added 50 runs with losing just 1 wicket. Campion made a comeback in the match thanks to a hat-trick from Shrigesh Shakya as Thames went from 53-1 to 53-4. But with just 14 more to win the hat-trick did not seem to trouble Thames as they cruised to the target losing just one more wicket.
