Host Thames International Collage thrashed St. Xavier’s Collage by 37 runs in the opening match of Thame’s Inter-Collage Knock Out Cricket Tournament 2071.
Riding on Bikram Baniya’s 90* off 69 balls Thames posted 166/5 in 20 overs. Ankur Bhattarai picked up two wickets for St. Xavier’s giving 36 runs from 4 overs. In reply, Baniya shone with the ball picking two wickets as St. Xavier’s were only able to put 129/8. Sumit Shrestha was the top scorer for St. Xavier’s with 38 runs whereas Satyendra Joshi blasted 33 runs. Apart form Banitya, Roshan Shrestha bagged three wickets.
In another match of the day, KIST Collage knocked KCMIT by 53 runs thanks to a five wicket haul from Ankit Rawal. Batting first KIST managed 107/8 from 20 overs with Bishwas Bardewa scoring more than half of the runs. He played a fine knock of 57 runs from 65 balls with 9 fours to help his team post a respectable total. Rawal then returned with a match winning figure of 5/17 from four overs to pack up KCMIT for 54 runs in 13 overs. Opener Binaya Karki was the only batsmen to reach double figure with 17 runs for KCMIT.
