Twitter’s reaction to Nepal’s record win to retain the ODI status

The Nepalese national cricket team have retained their ODI status after a record win against UAE on Monday. The 177 runs win is Nepal’s highest (in terms of runs) in ODI, surpassing the record of 151 runs win against PNG.

Nepal jumped to the fourth position in the CWC League 2 points table and are two wins away from taking over Namibia at the third position, which will ensure a direct spot in World Cup Qualifier at Zimbabwe. Meanwhile, UAE’s dream to retain the ODI status directly is shattered, and they need to follow another route to ensure their ODI status.

After posting 249 runs in the first inning, Nepal bowled out UAE for 71, their lowest-ever ODI total in front of a Jumbo crowd at TU Cricket Ground. Lalit Rajbanshi grabbed his maiden ODI fifer to bundle out UAE for a mere total after Rohit Paudel’s anchoring knock helped his side to post a competitive total.

Here is how Twitter reacted to Nepal’s record win to retain ODI status:

Nepal will face PNG on Monday, 13th March, followed by UAE on 16th march. Win in both clashes will ensure Nepal’s spot in the World Cup Qualifiers in Zimbabwe. CWC League 2 Champions Scotland and runner-up Oman have already booked their spot in the gateway to Cricket World Cup 2023.
