UAE to play three-match ODI series against West Indies ahead of World Cup qualifiers

United Arab Emirates (UAE) is set to host two times Cricket World Cup and two times T20 World Cup champions Champions West Indies for a three-match One-Day Internationals (ODI) series.

Both UAE and West Indies are scheduled to participate in the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier in Zimbabwe. As part of their preparations, they will engage in a series of three ODI matches in Sharjah. The ODIs will take place on the fifth, seventh and ninth of June.

Following the conclusion of the series, both teams will head to Zimbabwe for the World Cup qualifying campaign, which commences on 18 June. This crucial tournament will determine the final two spots for the 10-team ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 in India.

Emirates Cricket Board has already hosted a T20I series against full member sides Afghanistan and New Zealand.

The General Secretary of the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB), Mubashshir Usmani, expressed his delight in hosting the West Indies before the qualifying tournament in Zimbabwe. He conveyed gratitude to Cricket West Indies for their ongoing support in the development of cricket in the UAE.

On Tuesday, South Africa confirmed their seat in the upcoming Cricket World Cup. Meanwhile, Ireland will compete in the Qualifiers.

West Indies, Sri Lanka, Ireland, Netherlands, Scotland, Nepal, UAE, USA, Zimbabwe, and Oman will battle for the remaining two spots in the upcoming World Cup 2023.
