West Indies crush UAE to secure series win

The West Indies cricket team has secured a comfortable victory against the United Arab Emirates (UAE), clinching the series with one match remaining. In the second match of the three-match ODI series held at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, the West Indies emerged victorious with a convincing 78-run win.

Having won the toss, the West Indies chose to bat first and posted a total of 306 runs before being bowled out in 49.5 overs. The opening pair of Brandon King (64) and Johnson Charles (63 off 47 balls) got off to a strong start, adding 129 runs in just 17 overs. However, the middle order and finishers couldn’t contribute significantly, leading to their restricted total of 306 runs. Zahoor Khan was the standout bowler for the UAE, taking three wickets, while Aayan Khan, Ali Naseer, and Sanchit Sharma picked up two wickets each.

In response, the UAE managed to score 228 runs for the loss of seven wickets in their allotted 50 overs. Ali Naseer top-scored with 57 runs, while Basil Hameed (49) and Vriitya Aravind (36) made valuable contributions. Kavem Hodge and Roston Chase were the most successful bowlers for the West Indies, picking up two wickets each.

With this victory, the West Indies have taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series, having also won the first match by seven wickets. The final match of the series is scheduled to take place on June 9.
