The Nepalese community in Australia has come together to host the thrilling Yuwa Cup 2023, an event aimed at promoting cultural harmony and goodwill between the Nepalese and foreign communities in Western Australia.
The Cup involved several games, including Cricket. Nep Perth Cricket Club clinched the title of the Cricket tournament, defeating Perth Blasters in the final. 12 teams battled for the trophy, including one Bhutanese team. The winning side received 1000 Australian Dollars.
Nepalese United Football were victorious in Football, whereas Tasty Momo were the winner in Volleyball. Football and Volleyball Champions received 800 and 500 Australian Dollars respectively. The main prize distribution will be held in the Gala dinner event, which is likely to be on May 2023.
Established in 2021, the non-profit organization ‘Yuwa’ has been doing an incredible job supporting Nepalese immigrants through educational and sporting activities, and the Yuwa Cup was no exception.
The event coordinator, Basu Sapkota, played an amazing role in wrapping the tournament smoothly, with all participants having a positive experience. Similarly, the Vice President of Yuwa Organization, Kul Chandra Adhikari, promised to come up with more exciting events in the coming days. “We are actively helping recent immigrants from Nepal who are travelling to Australia, and the recently concluded tournament is an example of it”, Adhikari added.
