Adelaide Strikers complete highest run chase in Big Bash history

Adelaide Strikers pulled off the greatest run chase in Big Bash League (BBL) history on Thursday. They were victorious by seven wickets against Hobart Hurricanes in 459 run thriller at Adelaide.

Chasing a mammoth target of 230 runs, Matthew Short scored an unbeaten century in his captaincy debut as his side sealed the win with three balls spare. He hammered two boundaries in a row to seal the win and his ton in 59 balls. He added 124 runs with Chris Lynn (64) for the second wicket.

Adelaide surpassed the Hurricanes’ record of the highest total chased in BBL. They chased 223 against Melbourne Renegades in 2017.

Meanwhile, Hobart posted 229, their highest score in BBL. The openers yielded an aggressive start after being invited to bat first. Ben McDermott (57), Caleb Jewell (54) and Zak Crawley (54), playing his debut BBL match, scored a half-century for the Hurricanes.
