AVM‚ SAM set title clash

LALITPUR: Adarsha Vidhya Mandir (AVM) and Sainik Awasiya Mahavidhyalaya (SAM) set the title clash of the sixth SNB Memorial Inter-school Twenty20 Cricket Tournament today.

In the first semi-final, SAM eased to a 65-run win over EPS, while AVM — who were playing their second match in the day after a six-wicket quarter-final win over Brihaspati Vidhyasadan — overcame DAV by 43 runs.

Kiran Shrestha struck a 41-ball 42 with one six and a four as SAM made 147-5 in their 20 overs after they were put in to bat first. Man-of-the-match Milan Karki then returned with the figures of 3-13 in four overs to bundle out EPS for a meagre 82 in 16.2 overs. Abhishek Katwal, Ayush Thapa and Sujan Basnet also picked up one wicket each for SAM.

In SAM’s innings, Bikash Limbu also played a 22-run cameo off 14 balls with three hits to the fence, while Sujan (15) and Roshan Khatri (13) also scored in double figures. Prajwol Rawal, Prakash Shah and Saurav Mahato took one wicket apiece for EPS.

In another match, AVM scored 104-9 after put into bat first and restricted DAV to 71 in 18.4 overs with Umanga Pradhan and Bishowjeet Shah sharing nine wickets between them. Man-of-the-match Umanga returned with 5-13, while Bishowjeet took 4-18. Sahil Ahmed (21) and Ayush Gautam (10) were the only DAV batsmen to score in double digits.

Earlier, Bishowjeet made a 26-ball 25 and Utsav Koirala scored 16 to help AVM cross 100-run mark. Ashish Jha took three wickets and Ritesh Sharma had two scalps, while Sahil and Prashant Jain got one wicket each for DAV.
