BCF to support Phillip Hughes Tribute Match

Kathmandu – Basant Chaudhary Foundation (BCF) has officially announced to support Phillip Hughes Memorial match organised by Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) to be held in T.U. Ground on April 11.

BCF organised a press meet at Hotel Radisson on Friday and expressed their support for the tribute match by providing Fifteen Lakh rupees to the CAN. The event will showcase leading Nepalese Cricketers and some of the Australian cricketers at the Tribhuvan University on April 11.

The foundation will also support the expedition to Mount Everest led by Guinness Book record holder, Ms. Chhurim Sherpa, who has conquered the World’s highest peak twice in a week in 2011. Sherpa and her team will carry one of Hughes’s bat and jersey to the summit. The date of the expedition is yet to be announced by CAN.

During the event, CAN will incorporate Mr. Basant Chaudhary’s famous song “Ma Mero Desh Maathi Garva Garchu (I am proud of my country)” as its anthem for the event.

Bhawana Ghimire, CEO of CAN also expressed her thankfulness to BCF. “BCF has been the driving force behind this whole event, without their support our tribute to Hughes would not translate into reality”, Ghimire said.

“There is life beyond business and we are committed to our responsibility towards the society, our support to the event is perfectly in line with our corporate philosophy”, Paras Shakya, the BCF representative told.

The Foundation is headed by Poet/Lyricist and Industrialist Basant Kumar Chaudhary and dedicates to promote art, culture, health, heritage, literature, women empowerment and other humanitarian causes.

CAN is organising the tribute match of 63 overs for the Australian Cricketer who passed away after sustaining a fatal injury on his head during a Sheffield Shield game of November 25 last year. They have set Rs.163 as the ticket price for the match and can be bought online via eSewa.
