Kathmandu- Bowlers gave Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN XI) first win over visiting team Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) in the third match played between these team at Tribhuwan University Ground, Kritipur on Friday.
MCC’s decision to bat first came wrong as,CAN XI bowlers led by Sandip Lamichhane helped them restrict the visiting team 132 for 10 in 40 overs. In the process, Sandip grabbed three key wickets conceding just 17 runs in 8 overs. Manjeet Shrestha and Dipendra Airee also took two wickets each while former Nepal’s captain Binod Das got one wicket to his name.
Steve Clark and Greg Holmesh scored 27 runs each for MCC. George Addir also scored 25 runs opening the innings for his team.
In reply, CAN XI chased the target in the 29th over losing five wicket, thanks to Captain’s knock from Rajesh Pulami, who scored unbeaten 35 runs from 28 balls that included 4 fours and 2 sixes.
The skipper was involved in an unbeaten 28 runs partnership with wicket-keeper batsman, Himanshu Dutta who remained not out on 19 runs from 20 balls.
Dilip Nath and Bhupendra Thapa contributed 26 runs each in CAN XI’s win. Alex Macqueen took three wickets for MCC in his 6.3 overs.
MCC plays Nepal’s senior team in a two day match that starts tomorrow.
