Dhamala’s century propels Nepal U19 to huge win

Dharamsala- Sunil Dhamala’s century propelled Nepal U19 to a huge eight wickets win over Himanchal Pradesh Cricket Association XI (HPCA) in the third practice match between these sides at Dharamsala Cricket Stadium on Friday. Due to rain, the match was reduced to 30 overs per side.

Dhamala fired 100 not out off just 86 balls as Nepal chased 168 runs in 28.4 overs losing just two wickets. His innings included eight fours and five sixes. He shared 85 runs partnership with Yogendra Karki (35 runs off 48 balls) for the second wicket and an unbeaten 86 runs partnership with Raju Rijal, who remained unbeaten 26 runs off 38 balls, after losing Ishan Pandey for a duck in the very first over.

Earlier, Nepal won the toss and invited the home team to bat first. HPCA XI made 167 for 7 in 30 overs. Mudit Shukla top scored with 45 not out off 48 balls. Opener Digbijay Singh chipped in with 39 runs from 37 balls. Spinners duo, Prem Tamang and Sushil Kandel grabbed 2 wickets each for Nepal U19 while Sandeep Lamichhane, Sunil Dhamala and Dipendra Airee bagged one wicket each.

With this win, Nepal won the three match series 2-1. Nepal U19 will now travel to New Delhi to play two practice matches against Afghanistan U19 on January 11 and 13.
