Gyanendra Malla stars as Nepal thrash Himachal

Kathmandu – Vice Captain Gyanendra Malla’s half century helped Nepal to thrash Himachal Pradesh by 61 Runs in the second practice match of the ongoing Nepal practice tour in India.

Himachal Pradesh invited Nepal to bat first after winning the toss at the Dharamshala Ground. Vice Captain Gyanendra Malla top scored with 52 off 47 balls. He smashed two fours and a six during his inning. Meanwhile, Sompal Kami’s 24 runs off 21 balls was the second top scorer for Nepal to pile up modest 122 runs in the allocated 20 overs.

The opener duo of Subash Khakurel and Sagar Pun couldn’t threaten the Himachal. They were dismissed cheaply for 5(13) and 4(8) respectively. Likewise, Skipper Paras Khadka and Binod Bhandari were flopped once again scoring just 1 runs each. Sharad Vesawkar tried hard to score and was dismissed for 11 runs. Similarly, Pradeep Airee didn’t trouble the scorers.

For Himachal, Gurwinder Singh grabbed two wickets. Akash Sharma and Raghav Dhawan shared wickets apiece.

During the chase, Fast and furious spell of bowling by Sompal Kami helped Nepal to restrict Himachal Pradesh in just 14.3 overs. Kami grabbed three wickets (4-0-18-3) to bundle them for just 61 runs. He was well supported by Shakti Gauchan (2.3-0-8-2) and Jitendra Mukhiya (2-0-9-2) at the other end. Another Fast bowler Karan KC chipped in with one wicket.

After the win, Nepal lead the series 2-0 against the same side. Nepalese team must be happy to secure this win but the batting looks vulnerable. There was only one Six and 8 fours in Nepal’s inning.
