Melbourne – Sri Lankan great Kumar Sangakkara had played his last inning of his International cricket at the P Sara Oval, Colombo against India on Sunday.
Sangakkara, 37, played his last test match and scored 32 (87) and 18(18) in both first and second innings respectively.
The wicketkeeper batsman and the former Captain of Sri Lanka was born in Matale, Sri Lanka in 1977. He made his test debut against South Africa at Galle in July 20, 2000 and the one day debut against Pakistan in July 5, 2000 at Galle.
Sangakkara ended his 134 test career with an average of 57.40 scoring 12,400 runs. He has scored 38 centuries and 52 half-centuries to his name in 15 years long career, which puts him in fifth position in the list of highest Test run scorers.
Meanwhile, he played 404 one-dayers and scored 14,234 runs with an average 41.98, which places him second in the 50-over list after Sachin Tendulkar. His highest score of 169 came against South Africa in 20 July 2013 at R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo.
