Melbourne Stars names new stand-in captain

Melbourne – Melbourne Stars have unveiled their new stand-in captain, Nic Maddinson, who is debuting against Perth Scorchers.

In the absence of the regular captain Glen Maxwell and senior players Marcus Stoinis, Peter Handscomb, and Adam Zampa, Maddinson will be captaining the side for three matches.

All the senior players miss out due to Australia’s ODI series against India. Maddinson missed his opening five matches due to a broken arm.

The Stars have been hit by the absence of Nepalese leggie Sandeep Lamichhane, who is currently playing the Bangladesh Premier League. He is now replaced by Englishmen Liam Plunkett.
