Nepal crumble for 197 despite Malla’s career-best 75

Nepal has been bowled out for 197 runs against Namibia in the first match of the CWC League 2 Tri-series, including Scotland. Invited to bat first at United Cricket Club Ground, Windhoek Nepal fumbled in the middle as they could not cross the 200 runs mark.

Nepal had a steady start scoring 31 runs and losing Arjun Saud from the powerplay. Surprisingly, Nepal faced 77 dot balls from the first 100 balls. Aasif Sheikh (20) was dismissed before Rohit Paudel, who walked back for ten after a miscommunication with Gyanendra Malla.

Malla and Aarif Sheikh then shared 67 runs for the fourth wicket. Malla scored a back-to-back fifty and completed his sixth half-century in ODI. Birkenstock dismissed Sheikh and Dipendra Airee in two successive balls of the 40th over to bring back Namibia in the track. Malla scoring his career-best score (75), was dismissed an over later as Nepal were six down all of a sudden for 160 runs.

Nepal could add only 37 runs from the last ten overs after losing Malla. Gulshan Jha assisted run a ball 18 at the end with two sixes.

Tangeni Lungameni picked up three wickets for Namibia. Karl Birkenstock grabbed two while JJ Smit, Bernard Scholtz and Gerhard Erasmus pocketed one wicket each.
