Nepal outplayed in Play off against Lankans

Kathmandu/Cricnepal: Nepal’s series of defeat continues as they suffered a 8 wicket defeat from Sri Lanka, the fourth loss in a row, in the ninth place play off quarter final match at Peter Burge Oval, Brisbane in Australia on Monday.

Man of the match, Shehan Fernando scored 48 runs off 49 balls with eight fours while Sebastian Perera added 16 as Sri Lanka chased the low target of 80 runs in 20.4 overs losing two wickets. Prithu Baskota and Bhuwan Karki picked up wicket apiece for Nepal.

Earlier, electing to bat first, Nepal posted a low total of 79 runs losing all of the wickets in 27.3 overs. Subash Khakurel top scored with 22 runs, while Raju Pulami Magar contributed 16 runs.

Tharindu Kaushal grabbed three wickets, Sanitha De Mel, Ranitha Liyanarachchi and Amila Aponso picked two wickets each while Lahiru Madushaka took a wicket for Sri Lanka.

Nepal earlier registered loss to Australia by 212 runs, Ireland by 14 runs, England by 126 runs. Nepal will play Namibia on Tuesday in a 13th place play off semi final match.
