Nepal VS MCC ends for a draw

Kathmandu- The only two day match between Nepal and Marylebone Cricket Club ended for a draw in a match played at Tribhuwan University Ground, Kritipur on Sunday.

MCC won the toss and invited the home team to bat first. Nepal posted 228 for 8 in 70 overs on the first day thanks to Rajesh Pulami’s 60 runs off 103 balls. Captain of the home side, opener Subash Khakurel and Dipendra Airee scored 33 runs each. Richard Wilkinson and Neil Dexter grabbed three wickets each for MCC.

In their first innings, MCC could only make 179 for 9 after Karan KC and Shakti Gauchan picked wickets for Nepal. Karan ran through MCC’s top order with three wickets while Shakti destroyed MCC’s middle order picking up four wickets. Neil Dexter, captain of the visiting team top scored with 72 runs off 84 balls.

Nepal then declared their second innings on 172 for 7 in overs. Dipendra Airee smashed 67 runs off 73 balls that included 6 fours and 3 sixes to help Nepal post such a score. Steve Clark took three wickets for MCC in the second innings.

 

The match went for a draw after Nepal could take only one wicket at the end session of day 2. MCC made 38 for 1 in 16 overs. Karan KC picked the only wicket.

MCC takes Nepal’s senior side tomorrow in a T20 match to be played at TU Ground, Kritipur on their last day in Nepal.
