Nepal Women’s cricket team leaves for Bangladesh for training tour

Kathmandu: A 14-member Nepal Women’s national cricket team on Thursday left the country for Bangladesh for a training tour as part of their ICC Women’s World Cup Asian Qualifiers scheduled to be played in UAE from 22 November.

A week-long camp will feature four practice matches in Bangladesh from 5-11 November as a part of their preparation for the upcoming ICC Women’s World Cup Asian Qualifiers.

Earlier, the women’s cricket team had a 15-day training camp in Kathmandu under the coaching of Jagata Tamata. Cricket Association of Nepal announced a 14-member squad on November 27, led by Rubina Chhetry.

Sita Ranamagar, Dolly Bhatta, Karuna Bhandari, Indu Verma, Sarita Magar, Jyoti Pandey, Saraswoti Chaudhary, Kajal Shrestha, Sabnam Rai, Kabita Kunwar, Apsari Begam, Kabita Joshi, and Sangita Rai are part of the squad.

Nepal plays their first fixture against Hong Kong Women on 22 November, Bhutan Women on 23 November, Kuwait Women on 25 November, Malaysian Women on 26 November, and UAE Women on 28 November. All matches for Nepal Women are scheduled to be played at ICC Academy Ground 2 in Dubai.

The matches will be played as Women’s Twenty20 Internationals (WT20Is), with the top team progressing to the 2022 ICC Women’s World Twenty20 Qualifier tournament. Six nations including Nepal are going to play Asia selection in UAE.
