Kathmandu- Prajwal Shahi made a fine contribution with the bat hitting 96 not out from 87 balls for R-5 Nepalgunj as they thrashed R-2 Birgunj by eight wickets in the second day of Senior National Cricket tournament 2015 on Monday at Tu Ground kritipur.
Chasing 199 runs against Birgunj Prajwal Shahi, a new name in domestic scene of Nepal tore Birgunj’s bowling apart with fine skills to hand his team an easy victory. Nepalgunj made 199/2 in 34 overs against Birgunj’s 198/10 in 41. overs. Subendu Pandey also made 56 not out off 72 balls and he and Prajwal shared an unbeaten partnership of 160 runs for the 3rd wicket.
Earlier, Birgunj’s middle order couldn’t capitalize on a good start provided by Amrit Shrestha, Rabi Thapa and Skipper Suraj Kurmi. At one stage they were 99/3 in 19.5 overs and they lost their last seven wickets for another 99 runs. Amrit scored 26 runs while Rabi and Suraj scored 43 runs and 44 runs respectively.
Akash Bista and Abinash Bohara destroyed Birgunj’s middle order picking four wickets and two wickets respectively for Nepalgunj. Ram Naresh Giri also scored crucial 38 runs off 45 balls for Birgunj.
At TU Ground, kritipur, Region No. 2 (Birgunj) takes Region No. 8 (Pokhara) while Region No. 7 (Janakpur) plays Region No. 5 (Nepalgunj) at Pulchowk Engineering Ground, Pulchowk on Tuesday (tomorrow).
