Rubina Chhetri and Sita Rana Magar set to play FairBreak Invitational T20 Tournament

Nepal National Women’s team captain Rubina Chhetri and Sita Rana Magar are all set to play the second edition of the FairBreak Invitational T20 Tournament in Hong Kong. 

Rubina and Sita were retained by team Barmy Army and the Tornadoes respectively. Sita’s Tornadoes were the champions of the first edition held in Dubai. She picked up four wickets and scored 22 runs from seven matches and got everyone’s attention for her ‘PUSHPA’ celebration. Meanwhile, Rubina got only two matches where she didn’t get the chance to bat and conceded 20 runs from two overs with the ball in one match.

The ICC-approved competition will be held from 3 to 16 April 2023 at the Kowloon Cricket Club in Hong Kong, privately managed by FairBreak Global, a company that is dedicated to promoting gender equality. Every team will play against each other once, and the four top teams will advance through to the semi-finals.  

The Barmy Army, Falcons, Tornadoes, South Coast Sapphires, Spirit and Warriors will battle for the title. Six teams consists of 90 players from 28 different nations.

The tournament will be broadcasted on Sony Networks in South Asian Countries. Fancode and Fox Sports will also broadcast in India and Australia.

Sita and Rubina faced off in the final of the Lalitpur Mayor Women’s T20 Tournament on Thursday. Sita’s APF were victorious by 54 runs, grabbing the title third time in a row. Sita was adjudged player of the series (214 runs and eight wickets), while Rubina received the best batter award (139 runs).
