Kathmandu- Sainik Sharks clinched the title of SAAF School Series Cricket tournament defeating Police NCOPS in the final by 10 wickets in a match played at Army Cricket Ground, Bhaktapur.
Sainik, who are also the six time champions of COAS Running Cricket Tournament, showed why they are the Kings of School cricket as they packed a helpless Police team for just 46 runs. Only two batsmen, Subham Chaudhary (12 runs) and Suraj Chaudhary (10 runs) crossed double digit for Police. Santosh Khadka and Mandip Bhandari took 3 wickets each for Sainik whereas Saroj Dallakoti got 2 wickets. Santosh was brilliant with bowling figures of 3.2-1-9-3 which also saw him grabbing the Man of the Match award.
Chasing a low total, Sainik openers Bishnu Kumal and Sajal Bhandari chased the target in just four overs with the former blasting a quickfire 28 runs off just 16 balls.
In other matches of the final day, Sainik Seals defeated DAV Kiwis by 3 wickets to take the third position, Rajan Warriors got the better off Galaxy Jaguars to grab the 5th position, and Everest Burners thrashed Kins Rhinos to secure the 7th position.
Along with the trophy, Sainik captured the Outstanding Player Award, Outstanding Batsman Award, Outstanding Bowler and Outstanding Captain Award as well.
