Sunshine, New Horizon reach finals of SPA Cup 2015

Dhangadhi- Sunshine HSS (Bhairahawa VS Holly Land HSS (Nepalgunj)

Sunshine HS, Bhairahawa eased past Holyy Land, Nepalgunj to qualify for the finals of 4th Hotel Devotee SPA Cup, 2015.
Wining the toss, Holyland invited Sunshine to bat first. Openers Shankar Rana’s 42 off 34 balls and Subodh Shrivastav’s 30 off 23 balls combined to give sunshine a very good start . They shared a partnership of 54 runs for the first wicket which laid the foundation for a good total.

At the end Sabin Shakya scored epic 23* runs just off 9 balls and Nischal Chaudhary scored 29 off 20 balls as they managed 167/7 in 20 overs.It was Akash Bista once again who did it for Holly Land picking 2 wickets. Amar Singh, Siddhant Sahi and Abinash Bohara grabbed 1 wickets each.

Defending a moderate target, some brilliance bowling from Sunshine made sure that Holyy Land could manage just 93 runs in 19.3 overs losing all their wickets. Mayank Yadav picked up 4 wickets for Sunshine supported by Subodh Srivasatva’s 2 wickets and Shaban Ali’s 2 wickets. Apart from Siddhant Sahi’s 28 runs off 23 balls AND Nizamuddin Halwai’s 17 none other could score any runs for Holly Land.

Pentagon College (Kathmandu) VS New Horizon College (Butwal)

In the first semi-final, New Horizon of Bhairahawa stunned defending champions Pentagon Intl College of Kathamandu by 44 runs to enter the finals of the Hotel Devotee SPA Cup 2015.

Pentagon wining the toss, invited Horizon to bat first. Sandeep Sunar and Nurdhoj Sen gave good start to the New Horizon innings with a opening partnership of 52 runs. Pentagon returned back to the game with some quick wickets but Susan Bhari’s 16 off just 8 balls and Rupesh Bastola’s 16 off 9 balls in end overs boosted Horizon total to 155 in 20 overs. For Pentagon, Rahul Visawakarma picked 4 wickets while Sagar Pun also managed to get 3 wickets to his name. Nischal Chaudhary grabbed another 2 wickets.

Chasing of 155 runs, Pentagon’s opener Sagar Pun smashed 40 runs off 16 balls with 8 fours and 1 sixes. But Sagar’s dismissal put Horizons back into the game. Saurav Khanal got his team back into the game with the wicket of Pun and Naresh Budhayer but it was Man of the match Shakti Gauchan who finished the game picking up 3 important wickets including that of Binod Bhandari and Rajesh Pulami with the help of which Pentagon were bundled out for 111 runs in 16.1 overs. He finished with figures of 3-1-11-3 while Saurav finished with figures of 3-1-16-3.
