We should prepare for I-Cup Qualification : Dassanayake

ICC yesterday revealed the teams participating in WCL Div-3 (Nepal, Uganda, USA, Bermuda and the top two teams from Div -4) and WCL Div-2(Canada, Kenya, Namibia, Netherlands and the top 2 teams from Division 3). The new cycle of WCL introduced gives Nepal an opportunity to redeem everything that was lost in the unfortunate World Cup Qualifier in New Zealand by qualifying for the I-Cup.

The coach of the Nepal Cricket Team Pubudu Dassanayake has expressed that Nepal should focus on I-Cup Qualification and start working on technical aspects of the players with urgency. “I am certain that Nepal is the best team in Division-3 and the tournament is held in Nepal I am pretty sure Nepal will thrash all the teams in that division. But we should look further and plan for I-Cup qualification instead and start quality grooming sessions for players right away”, said Dassanayake in an exclusive interview with Cricnepal.

“We were surprised by the level of cricket the Div-1 and Div-2 teams served in New Zealand.  If we are to compete at that level we need to put in extra effort which has to start right away”, he added.

Pubudu also expressed that it has been difficult for him to plan that far with his tenure with Nepal National Team ending next month.
