Lalitpur-Region No. 1 Biratnagar defeated Region No. 9 Dhangadi 64 by runs in the first match of U-19 National One Day tournament being played at Pulchowk Engineering College Cricket Ground in Lalitpur.

Winning the toss and batting first Biratnagar failed to capitalize on a good start and were all out for just 181 runs.

Wicket keeper batsman Avinash Karna played a fighting innigs of 54 runs to help Biratnagar to a defendable score. Karna scored 4 fours in his match winning fifty. The Biratnagar middle order utterly failed and as wickets kept tumbling at the other end Avinash played a cautious innings.

Earlier, Niraj Mukhiya had given Biratnagar flying start adding 40 runs at the top with 3 fours and a six.

Arjun Chapagain picked up four wickets for Dhangadi.

Dhangadi made a flying start getting 12 off the first over and were 19/0 at end of third. But Biratnagar faught back via Kalicharan Yadav with 3 quick wickets including that of Dhangadi’s captain Sunil Dhamala(11) and Rabi Chand(11). Biratnagar then kept picking constant wicket and Dhangadi never looked in the game.

Dhangadi had lost half of their side before reaching the 50 and it looked as though they would not even cross the triple figues. Raju Rimal and Dipendra Airee added 26 runs for the 7th wicket-the highest of the innings. Resistance from Rimal(25) and Airee(25) came late in the innings and it was only enough to make the loss not as humiliating as it could have been.
