CAN starts U-12 youth program

Cricnepal/Kathmandu: National Cricket Academy(NCA) headed by national cricket coach Pubudu Dassanayake conducted Under 12 youth program under it’s project at Tribhuwan University Cricket Ground, Kirtipur on Wednesday.

NCA which was established a couple of weeks ago started the program aiming to find the young and new talents. The program was participated by number of students from different schools of Kathmandu Valley.

National team members, Binod Das, Shakti Gauchan, Basanta Regmi, Gyanendra Malla and Sanjam Regmi as well as former stars like Raju Basnet, Dipendra Chaudhary and Paresh Lohani taught some cricketing lessons to the participants in the inauguration day.

“We aim to develop cricket from grassroots and this is our first step. So far a good number of participants have been seen,”said Ashok Nath Pyakurel, generay secretary of Cricket Association of Nepal(CAN). We hope to make this program successful and we hope more number of participants will be there in upcoming sessions, he added

“As said earlier, we are training youths so that we can pick some good players, train them that will strengthen our cricket”, said coach Dassanayake. The U-12 boys and girls will be coached every Saturday until May and a set of 25 best cricketers will be selected who will go under high performance training, he added

The training program can be participated by anyone. Participant needs to register and can undergo lessons that will be taught by national cricketers.

Meanwhile, NCA have received the financial help from Model Global Visas Consultancy. The consultancy have donated Rs 100,000 to NCA on Wednesday. Managing Director of the consultancy, Manoj Pandey, handed over a check worth the amount to CAN General Secretary Pyakuryal at the NCA office on Wednesday.

“We have been supporting Nepali Cricket and will always be supporting this sort of events which are a basic need for development of cricket”, Pandey said.
