Hosts Oman wrap up the series with 72-run win over the USA

Oman wrapped up the final day of the tri-series with a 72-run win over the USA cricket team.

The USA team won the toss and invited the hosts to bat first. The last two weeks have become more predictable with the team batting second winning on all the occasions.

Oman posted a mammoth 274 for 7, the highest team’s total in the tri-series. Their’s top orders batsmen, Jatinder Singh (42), Pruthvikumar Macchi (25), Ayaan Khan (41), and Mohammad Nadeem (11), all contributed with the bat today.

Skipper Zeeshan Maqsood produced his second fifty of his ODI career. He smashed six sixes in his run-a-ball innings of 53. The lower orders also chipped in today for the hosts. Their sixth wicket was down at 205 runs, however, Sandeep Goud scored 25 runs and Naseem Khushi and Kaleemullah added 51 runs to the total. Khushi and Kaleemullah were unbeaten at the end with scores of 35 and 16 respectively.

For the USA, Nosthush Kenjige was the pick of the bowlers. He picked up three wickets while Steven Taylor, Nisarg Patel, and Karima Gore grabbed wickets apiece.

In reply, the USA openers fell early, both were dismissed inside the first ten overs. Dominique Rikhi was trapped by Bilal Khan for 0. Steven Taylor, with the century behind against Nepal, fell for 7 runs bowled by Kaleemullah.

Monank Patel was the highest scorer for the USA team. He managed to score his third fifty in his ODI career. Patel was dismissed for 56 runs from 58 balls with two fours and two sixes. Apart from Patel, Gajanand Singh, playing his second ODI, managed run-a-ball 48. Nisarg Patel (16), Jaskaran Malhotra (17), Karima Gore (17), Elmore Hutchinson (18) made contributions but that was not enough to reach Oman’s total, and eventually, bowled out for 202 in 39.5 overs.

Ayaan Khan was the pick of the bowlers for Oman’s victory. He produced a magical spell of 8-0-36-4 and Khawar Ali grabbed three wickets for 49 runs. Bilal Khan, Kaleemullah, and Zeeshan Maqsood chipped in with wicket apiece.

With this win, Oman remained top of the table with 22 points from 11 wins in 14 games. The USA stays in the second position with 14 points from 7 wins in 16 matches.
