Kathmandu Crowned League Champions

Cricnepal/Kathmandu: Kathmandu was crowned the league champions Kathmandu Senior Regional Selection Cricket Tournament 2069, wining all four of its league matches played in the tournament. In the matches played today Kathmandu defeated TU to register its fourth win in the tournament while Bhaktapur crushed Nuwakot.

In the match played at Engineering Ground, Bhaktapur defeated Nuwakot by 113 runs. Winning the toss and batting first riding on 61 runs of 66 balls by Purusottam Jha and 32 by Apurva OJha, Bhaktapur Posted a medium 206 in the allocated 40 overs. Munindra Mishra and Rajesh Shrestha picked up three wickets each for Nuwakot. In reply Nuwakot were folded for mere 93 runs 35 of those coming as extras. Openers Jay Mandal and Kaushal Mishra made 21 and 14 respectively The other batsmen like other matches couldn’t even get to double digits as the team got all out for 93.Purusottam Jha, Prakash Bista and Uttam Karki got 2 wickets each for Bhaktapur.

Purusottam Jha recived the player of the match award for his all round performance.

Kathmandu vs.TU

In the other match played today at TU international Cricket Ground Kathmandu defeated TU by 147 runs

Winning the toss and batting first TU posted a massive 310 runs of 40 riding on century by Niraj Bhattarai. Bhattarai scored 101 runs of just 86 balls. In form Indra Kamal Manandhar had another good day with the bat scoring 45 of 66 balls and together with Bhattarai added 135 runs for the second wicket. Earlier opener Robin Joshi made 34 and shared an opening stand of 84 runs in just 9.5 overs.Munir Shrestha contributed with 29 while Captain Niraj Basnet made 39 for Kathmandu to push the score past 300.Chandra Khadka picked up three wickets for TU.

In reply TU were restricted for mere 163 runs. Keshav Pant picked up two wickets for Kathmandu, while Bijay gautam. Rupesh Shrivastava and Munir Shrestha picked up a wicket each, and 2 of the TU batsmen were run out. TU started the chase slow but steady as the openers Suman Shrestha and pramod basnet  added 60 runs in 15 overs.Pramod Basent fell tpo Munir Shrestha at score of 32 runs. Suman went on to make a half century and got 76 runs before falling to Rupesh Shrivastav. The other batsmen that followed could even get to double digits as TU managed just 163 runs in 40 overs, giving Kathmandu 147 runs win.

Kathmandu’s Indra kamal manandhar was awarded the best batsmen award.he scored 187 runs in 4 matches with average of over 93. Lalitpur’s Deepankar Yonjan, was adjudged the best bowler. He picked up 13 wickets in with an average of just over 7 and strike rate below 12. Lalitpur”s Prasanna got the Player of the series award.Captain of lalitpur side Prasanna made 168 runs in four matches and also grabbed 7 wickets in the tournament.
