Host KIST Medical College “Yellow” team secured their semi final berth in the 2nd KIST Cup Cricket Tournament defeating Nepal Medical College by 7 wickets in their final league match. Winning the toss and batting first NMC posted 129 runs riding on 34 from 28 balls from Saurav. Suman Basel picked up 2 wickets for the host side giving 24 runs from his 4 overs.
In reply KIST chased the target in 16.4 overs thanks to half century from man of the match Sunil Kuwar. Kuwar made 54 from 36 balls. His innings included 8 fours and 1 six.
KIST ended the group stage with 2 wins from 3 matches. Unstiture of Medicine IOM who have 3 wins from 3 finished top of the group.
In the other match played today B.P Koirala Institute of Health Sciences mauled KIST – Blue by 87 runs. Batting first riding on 60 runs from Ashish Khadka the side from Dharan posted 141 runs from 20 overs. Rajiv Neupane bagged three wickets. In reply KIST-Blue folded for mere 54 runs in 13.2 overs. Akash Mishra, who was later adjudged the player of the match returned with figures of 4-0-12-4. Pramod Man Singh Yadav who had bagged 5 wickets against Kathmandu Medical College yesterday picked up 3 wickets.
Sriram K.C. and Arun Upreti top scored for the host’s second side with 17 runs each.
Winning all three matches of B.P topped the pool B table. Universal College of Medical Sciences finished second on the group to reach semis.
The semi final matches of the tournament will be played tomorrow. IOM will take on UCMS in the first semi final match while the host side KIST-Yellow will face B.P Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in the other.
