Malaysia’s seamer becomes first cricketer to grab 7-wicket in T20I

Malaysian seamer Syazrul Ezat Idrus took seven wickets in a Men’s T20I match against China on Wednesday to become the first cricketer to do.

Idrus’ record-breaking spell came during the first match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Asia B Qualifier 2023, being held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Opting to bat first, China were bowled out for a mere 23 runs in 11.2 overs in their maiden T20I match. China were 12/0 before Idrus came into the action, and then they lost all ten wickets for just 11 runs.

Idrus’ all seven wickets were bowled due to his consistent and skilful swing into the batters, leaving the opposition stunned. He ended up with a figure of 4-1-8-7.

Malaysia losing a couple of wickets, chased the target in just 4.5 overs to bag a couple of points.

He surpassed Peter Aho’s record for the best bowling figures in men’s T20Is. Peter Aho had previously achieved figures of 6 for five against Sierra Leone in 2021 while playing for Nigeria.
