Head of UCPN-Maoist Puspa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” has requested national coach Pubudu Dassanayake to stay. Dassanayake’s term as Nepal’s coach ends with March and he is leaving for Canada on Tuesday and CAN which is divided whether or not to add his term hasn’t yet started any conversation about extension.
Prachanda met Dassanayake, on Sunday at Prachanda’s home-Lazimpat. There the Maoist supremo said that Cricket had been a tool to introduce Nepal world wide. He then requested Dassanayake to stay and told Dassanayake that he has a lot more to offer to Nepal cricket.
In reply Dassanayake said that he would get to a decision in a few days.
Prachanda’s meeting with Dassanayake comes in the aftermath of CPN Maoist’s secretary CG Gajurel’s controversial video saying “Cricket was a bad influence in the society” which sent Cricket lover angry all over the world. Some were angry enough to burn Gajurel’s effigy for his anti-cricket comment.
