Nepal Commerce lift BBA Cup Trophy after Super Over

Kathmandu – Nepal Commerce Campus lifted the Thames Inter College BBA Cup 2016 after defeating Mahendra Morang Adarsha Multiple Campus by two runs in a super over at Army Ground, Bhaktapur on Saturday.

Mahendra Morang opted to bat and managed to score 110 in 19.4 overs. Opener Raju Sharma top scored with 30 runs off 16 balls including six boundaries. Manish Basnet, Amit Kumar Yadav and Niraj Rajbanshi also put 19, 13 and 11 runs respectively.

For NCC, Sandesh Shrestha grabbed three wickets. Sanjay Chand took two wickets while Yadav Banjade, Ashish Bist and Suraj KC shared wicket apiece to restrict Mahendra Morang.

Needing 111 to win, Nepal Commerce only managed 110 for the loss of nine wickets in their 20 overs to bring the super over in play. Biplav Basnet fought hard to get his run a ball 50 (53) but rest of batters couldn’t handle the pressure of the chase. Ashish Bist (14) and Sanjog Dahal (12) got the start but didn’t convert it to match winning inning.

Manish Basnet, Sudip Niraula and Niraj Rajbanshi bagged two wickets each while Rokesh Khanal and Amit Kumar Yadav shared wicket apiece.

Super Over
The tied match went to super over. Nepal Commerce scored 11 runs for the loss of two wickets and restricted Mahendra Morang for 9 runs.

Best Bowler
Nepal Commerce’s Sandesh Shrestha was awarded with Best Bowler in the tournament. He took 10 wickets in 4 matches with best figure of 3-14.

Best Batsman
Biplav Basnet from Nepal Commerce Campus received Best Batsman trophy. He scored 153 runs in 4 matches with an average of 76.50.

Player of the Tournament
Sitesh Tiwari was adjudged Player of the tournament for his all-round performance. He scored 131 runs and took 10 wickets in the 4 matches.
