Nepal’s preliminary squad announced for Women’s T20 World Cup Asia Qualifiers

The Cricket Association of Nepal has announced the preliminary squad for the national women’s cricket team to participate in T20 World Cup 2024 Asia Qualifiers. Twenty-four players have been called in the closed camp.

The tournament is set to be played in Malaysia from August 31 to September 9. Two teams from Asia Qualifier will be selected in Global Qualifiers.

Veteran all-rounder Nary Thapa, batter Roma Thapa, and pacer Sabnam Rai have been called back into the squad. At the same time, Manisha Chaudhary, Sneha Mahara and Puja Mahato are called for the first time.

Nepal, Bahrain, Bhutan, UAE, Qatar and Malaysia are placed in Group A, whereas Thailand, Kuwait, China, Hong Kong and Myanmar are in Group B.

Nepal will play their first match against Malaysia on 31 August. They will face Bahrain on September 1, followed by Bhutan, Qatar and UAE on the 3rd, 4th and 6th of September, respectively.

The top two sides from each group will reach the semifinal. Then two finalists will book a place in Global Qualifier to be held in Sri Lanka. Ten teams – Sri Lanka, Ireland and eight teams coming from the qualifiers will compete in Global Qualifier, and the top two teams will seal the ticket to the main event in Bangladesh, where ten teams will compete.
