Sandeep Lamichhane drafted in BBL-12

Nepal national cricket team’s skipper, Sandeep Lamichhane has been nominated in Australia’s franchise league Big Bash League (BBL) draft for season 2022/23.

Lamichhane is the sole player from Nepal to be drafted. Namibia’s David Wiese, Scotland’s Michael Jones and Mark Watt, UAE’s Vriitya Aravind, America’s Ali Khan, Unmukt Chand, and Harmeet Singh, Netherland’s Brendan Glover, Fred Klaassen, Roelof Van Der Merwe, and Paul Van Meerkeren are the players from other associate countries to be included in the draft.

Since debuting for Melbourne Stars in December 2018, Nepal’s spinning sensation has picked up 48 BBL wickets in 43 matches with a healthy average and strike rate of 24.71 and 7.42 respectively. Later in 2020, Lamichhane was signed by Hobart Hurricanes after two good seasons with the Stars.

The BBL draft will take place in Sydney on August 28. A total of 169 players from 13 countries have registered their names in the draft.
