SPA Cup 2015: Holly Land and Merryland march into semis

Holly Land HSS sailed into semi-finals of the Hotel Devotee SPA Cup 2015, defeating Golden Gate International College by 7 wickets in a match played at Seti Zone Police Ground, Dhangadhu on Wednesday.

Golden Gate won the toss and elected to bat first,but against a impressive bowling line up of Holly land they could only managed to score 109 runs in 20 over losing 8 wickets. Fazrul Rahman top scored for Golden Gate with 23 runs off 24 balls while Rahul Singh managed 19 off 25 balls. Siddhant Raj Sahi and Avinash Bohra grabbed 2 wickets each for Holly Land, however, it was Akash Bista who troubled the batsman most conceding only 8 runs in 4 over picking up a wicket.

Chasing 109 in 20 overs the man of the match Anupam Singh smashed 61 runs unbeaten, which was enough for Holly land to win the match in 18 overs and cause the first upset of the tournament. Rupesh Shrivastav, Aarif Sheikh, and Prithu Baskota took a wicket each for Golden Gate. Prithu played his first competitive match almost 15 months later after suffering a knee injury.

New Horizon HSS (Butwal) VS Merryland HSS (Biratnagar)

New Horizon College recorded an easy seven wickets win over Merryland College in the second quarter-final of the Hotel Devotee SPA Cup 2015.

An impressive fielding and a tight bowling from New Horizon saw Merryland pack up for just 76 runs in 16.1 overs. New Horizon the chased a low target without any difficulty in 9.3 overs losing three wickets in the process. Nirmal Thapa remained not out on 22 for the winning side.

Earlier, Saurav Khanal pikced 3 wickets finishing with figures of 4-0-14-3 to restrict Merryland to a low score while Rahul Prajapati grabbed two wickets. Siddhant Lohani and Suraj Patel scored 26 runs and 24 runs respectively for Merryland.
