BIRGUNJ:
Vidhyasadan Secondary School (VSS) of Region-II (Birgunj), Sunrise Boarding School of Region-VIII (Pokhara) and Scientific Education Academy of Region-VII (Janakpurdham) won their respective matches in the Boost Inter-school National Cricket Tournament here today.
Vidhyasadan defeated Mangal Prasad Secondary School of Region-V (Nepalgunj) by five wickets at the Narayani Stadium. Electing to bat first, Mangal Prasad scored 123-7 in 20 overs with Akash Bista contributing 32 and Aakash Bista adding 28 runs to the total.
Vidhyasadan overcame the total losing five wickets in 19.1 overs. Man-of-the-match Mohammad Arif Shesh scored an unbeaten 30 for VSS.
Sunrise dispatched Sunshine Boarding School of Region-IV (Bhairahawa) by 27 runs. Batting first, Sunrise were bowled out for 102 in 20 overs before restricting Sunshine for 75 runs in 16 overs. Santosh Upadhyaya top scored for Sunrise with 15.
Man Bahadur Thapa picked up three wickets for Sunshine, while Bijay Sunar, Bhupendra Thapa, Pravin Thapa, Bibek Chaudhary, Shankar Rana claimed one each. Man-of-the-match Sushil Kandel grabbed four wickets for Pokhara.
At the Siddheshwor grounds, Scientific beat Happy Land School of Region-I (Biratnagar) by 31 runs. Scientific scored 101 in 19.3 overs and defended the total by restricting Happy Land for 70 in the last ball of the 20th over.
Mohammad Nijan bagged three wickets for Biratnagar, while Samir Hussain and Jitendra Yadav claimed two apiece. Man-of-the-match Gopal Singh and Rahul Thakuri three wickets apiece for Janakpur.
