Defending champions Universal College of Medical Sciences (UCMS) ,Bhairahawa started their title defense with a thumping win over KIST- Blue in the 2nd KIST Cup in the opening day of the inter-medical college cricket tournament being played at Army School Cricket Ground, Sallaghari Bhaktapur. Batting first the host KIST were bundled out for mere 90 runs in the 19th over in the pool B match. UCMS made mockery out of the chase getting to the target in mere nine overs.
In the other match played today KIST Yellow lost a thriller against previous edition’s finalist and Rudip Memorial Cup Champion Institue of Medicine by 1 run. Batting first IOM posted 136 before getting all out in exactly 20 overs. KIST’s Bijay Yadav bagged the hattrick in the last over where IOM lost the last five wickets.Bijay Yadav who took 4 wickets giving only 23 runs was picked the player of the match. Needing to score 13 run of the last over to win KIST “Y” managed only 11.
The second edition of KIST Cup is competed between 8 teams of 7 medical colleges across the nation. The 8 teams are divided in 2 pools of 4 teams each with top 2 teams reaching the semis. The winner of the tournament will bag NRs. 20,000 and runner up takes home Nrs. 15,000.
