Aasif Sheikh, bowlers drives Kalaiya to first win

Kathmandu – An unbeaten half century from Aasif Sheikh helped Kalaiya Cricket club to open their account in the first match of Jagshakti Saanshad Cup T20 2016 at Sideshwar Cricket Ground, Bara against Birat Cricket Society by 25 runs.

Kalaiya CC 138/9 (20 ov.) defeated Birat Cricket Society 113/10(18.5 ov) by 25 runs.

Kalaiya put a challenging 138 for the loss of nine wickets after winning the toss. Aasif Sheikh made a well compiled 54 off 35 balls. He struck 4 fours and 3 sixes at the middle stage. Earlier, Sunil Dhamala gave a good start to the inning with 30(25) including 2 fours and 2 sixes.

Saddhaf Aktar grabbed three wickets (3/31) for Birat Cricket Society. Firdosh Ansari (2/23) and Puspa Thapa (2/19) shared two wickets each while veteran Mehboob Alam took one wicket (1/29).

In reply, Birat Cricket Society could only manage 113 in 18.5 overs. Their batting didn’t looked against the strong bowling lineup of Kalaiya. Only Puspa Thapa and Hasim Ansari managed 27(20) and 13(16) runs respectively.

Avinash Karna (3/19) and Basant Regmi (3/15) were the pick of the bowlers grabbing three wickets each. Binod Das (2/20) and Sushil Kandel (2/18) also took two wickets each.
