ACC Grants Scholarships to Rubina & Roshani

Rubina Chhetry – Skipper of Nepali Women’s Cricket along with top order bats-woman Roshani Bohara received Asian Cricket Council(ACC)’s Scholarships to Sri Lanka.

“ACC funded Four of Nepal’s and Thailand’s Women Cricketers to Srilanka”, ACC Website quoted. Nattaya Boochatham and Sornnarin Tippoch will join Nepal’s duo to play Division 1 Cricket in Srilanka from August.

The Cricketers were selected on the basis of performance in the ACC Women’s Championship 2013 held in Thailand. Rubina Chhetry and Sorrnanin Tippoch are captains of their respective countries. Boochatham and Tippoch are already ACC-certified Level II coaches as well.

Nepal secured the 3rd position in the tournament that was held from 23rd -31st January 2013

They will play for Palink Sports Club(Palians), based in Colombo, in Sri Lanka Cricket’s 50-over Division 1 Women’s League. Two foreign players can be fielded by a side at one time so they will play in rotation as per he tournament rules.

The Nepali and Thai girls (the Thais after completing their trip to Ireland for the Women’s World Twenty20 Qualifiers) reach Colombo on August 10, prior to starting the Sri Lanka season on the 20th. They will be on the island for a month.

The ACC is also proposing to work with the Asian Test-playing countries on tours in 2014 for the top Associates as well as Umpiring Scholarships.
