ACC Twenty20 Cup 2012: Preview

Nepal,Nepal,Nepal and Nepal is what we will be chanting when the ACC T20 cup kicks off at TU ground on 26th March. There is something to cheer for the sports fan in Nepal as Nepali cricket has registered outstanding results recently in the ICC Division IV Trophy and the prestigious ACC Elite Trophy last year. And hence Nepal is the clear favourites for the upcoming ACC T20 cup as they have the advantage of home crowd and conditions.

Here is the preview for the coming ACC T20 CUP.

Nepal,Afghanistan,Hongkong and UAE have the potential of winning the cup. Other countries are underrated due to their low performances. Though Afghanistan are considered as the strong contenders to win this tournament they have not named a strong team as they have already qualified to play the world cup qualifiers. So their chance of winning the trophy is less.

Similarly, Hongkong has a experienced and strong team but they have not performed to their extent in this level. So, they can be taken as minows to win the trophy. The main battle for the trophy is between Nepal and UAE. UAE has named a strong team with veteran Khurram Khan leading the team. They have a good infrastructure of cricket with very good stadiums like Sharjah and good scope for the players too but they have not played well in the T20 format till date. They were eliminated from the group stage in the previous ACC T20 tournament held in kathmandu. They want to erase all their woes and try to win the championship.UAE can be considered as a strong contender to win the trophy.

On the other hand, Nepal who is hosting the championship are the clear favourites to win. They have the home advantage and are in a good position with all their players in great form. They won the ICC World division Leauge 4 winning all the games last year. They also shared the ACC Elite trophy with UAE in 2012 and were unbeaten in the tournament. Nepal also captured 7th position in their first ever participation in T20 World Cup qualifiers beating big names like Kenya. Therefore, looking the current form of the team, advantage of home condition and home crowd no doubt Nepal is the clear contender to win the ACC T20 cup 2013.
