Airee, Bhurtel shine in practice match against Windwards

Dipendra Singh Airee’s explosive batting helped Nepal to win the first T20 practice match by six wickets against Windwards Volcanoes on Tuesday (Nepal time).

Nepali team is currently in St. Vincent and the Grenadines for their World Cup preparations, where they are playing three T20 matches against Windwards cricket team.

Winwards batted first and put up 196 for 8 in 20.0 overs. In reply, Nepal reached the target with three balls to spare.

Opener Kushal Bhurtel managed 70 runs while Airee remained unbeaten on 52 runs. Sompal Kami also contributed 32 runs.

Nepal needed 38 runs in the last two overs and thanks to Airee, who hit four sixes and added 26 runs in the penultimate over. In the last over, Sompal hit a six and added two and hit a boundary to give victory to Nepal.

Nepal will play two more practice matches on May 16 and May 18 before they leave for Houston on May 19.
