All teams to enter the second round determined

Kathmandu/Cricnepal: Day three of Soaltee Crowne Plaza super-sixes saw 8 matches which determined the remaining 8 spots for the pre quarter finals of the tournament. Citizens Bank  and Surya Nepal (Group B), Sunrise Bank and Siddhartha Bank(Group E), Kantipur Media Group and Sanima Bank (Group G), KIST Bank and Embassy of India (Group H) qualified for the second round today and will meet NMB Bank and Std. Chtd. Bank(Group A), Soaltee Crowne and CIVIL Bank(Group B) , Bank of Asia Nepal and Nepal Bank Ltd(Group F) Century Bank and Nabil Bank(Group D) in the prequater finals of the tournament. 12 of the 16 teams into the semis are banks.

Standard Chartered Bank, KIST Bank, Soaltee Crowne Plaza, Citizen bank, Century Bank, bank of Asia and Sunrise Bank Kantipur Media Group won their respective matches today.

Standard Chartered Vs NMB Bank-Group A

NMB bank defeated Standard Chartered Bank by 28 runs to top Group A. Standard Chartered bank qualified as runner’s up. Winning the toss and batting first NMB put up 68 runs for the loss of three wickets, Rabindra Chand top scoring with 36 of 13 balls. In reply Standard Chartered

Bank of Kathmandu Vs Kist Bank-Group H

Kist bank playing their first match in the tournament defeated Bank of Kathmandu (BoK)  by 4 wickets with 3 balls to spare and qualified for the second round. Batting first after losing the toss BoK made 87 runs for loss of one wicket, Pramath Shah and Prashant Shrestha both crossing 30s for the team-35 of 11 and 31 of 13 respectively. Kist Bank got to the target with ease losing 2 wickets in 4.3 overs. Roshan Shrestha top scored for Kist with  23  n.o. of 8 balls.

Civil Bank Vs Soaltee Crown Plaza- Group B

Host soaltee Crowne Plaza defeated Civil Bank by 9 runs and topped the group: Civil qualifying as runner up. Batting first Soaltee put on board 66 runs for loss of one wicket, Bikash Karn scorng steady 31 of 16 balls. Chasing 67 Civil Bank could only reach 57. Raj Shrestha added 33 of 15 balls before the mandatory retiring.

United S. Nepal Vs Citizen Bank- Group C

Citizen Bank thrashed United Nepal defeating them comprehensively by 69 runs. battig first Citizen bank put up a massive 107 runs for loss of three wickets. In reply United S. Nepal could only manage38 runs and losing only two wickets!

Century Bank Vs Nabil Bank-Group D

Century Bank defeated Nabil bank by 5 wickets qualified for the second round as group winners. Batting first Nabil Bank put up 68 runs for loss of 2 wickets, Bhuwan Shrestha top scoeing for Nabil with 34 runs for 12 balls. Centuty bank got to the target losing just one wicket and 4 balls to spare. Sankar L Shresth contributed 34 of 12 and Abhay Rana scored a steady 26 of 13 balls in century’s chase. Nabil bank have also qualified for the second round.

Sunrise Bank Vs Nepal Investment Bank-Group E

Sunrise Bank defeated Nepal Investment Bank by three 9 runs. batting first Sunrise put up 63 runs for loss of three wickets, and then restriced Nepal Investment bank to 54 runs thanks to Karan Shrestha’s fine over where he gave away only 6 runs and also grabbed a wicket.

Nepal Bank Vs Bank of Asia – Group F

After losing the toss and put into bat, Nepal Bank scored 67 runs of 5 over, Bank of Asia got to the target in 4.4 over, as Diwash Singh Thakuri made quick fire 17 of 9 balls and Diwesh Dangol made a steady 27 of 16 balls. The match ended with an exciting final over, defending Champion bank of Asia needing 10 runs to win.  Bowling the final over Sandesh Lamsal grabbed two wickets but gave away 10 runs as well in other 2 balls to give Bank of Asia victory. Bank of Asia top the group with this win and Nepal bank qualifies as runner up.

Nepal Life Insurance Vs Kantipur Media Group – Group G

Kantipur Media group defeated Nepal Life Insurance by 26 runs thanks to 33 runs of 12 balls from the star VJ and host of call kantipur, Suraj Thakuri. Batting first Kantipur Media Group made 97 runr for 2 wickets. Bhusan Yadav also added 31 for the team. Chasing 98 Nepal Life Insurance were restricted for 71 runs. Two loses for Nepal Life Insurance mean that they are out of the tournament as Kantipur Media Group and Sanima Bank go into the next round as winner and runner up respectively.

Final match of the group stage will take place tomorrow as Indian Embassy will face KIST Bank in their group H match to determine the winner and runner up for the group.

6 of the eight matches thus have been set up for pre quarter finals and the other two to be determined after the final group match.
