Anshuman Rath hits a ton as Hong Kong defeats UAE

Hong Kong handed a defeat to UAE in Friday’s clash of ACC Men’s Premier Cup. Anshuman Rath’s century helped his side emerge victorious by 67 runs in the DLS method at Mulpani Cricket Ground.

Invited to bat first, Hong Kong posted 263/8 in the allotted 50 overs. Opener Anshuman Rath scored 106 runs from 117 balls with 11 fours. Kinchit Shah and Aziz Khan contributed 35 and 27 runs respectively. Babar Hayat also scored a quick ton for Hong Kong in the previous match.

UAE’s young spinner Aayan Afzal Khan picked up a fifer (10-2-50-5). Sanchit Sharma also dismissed two batters.

In reply, UAE were 117/6 in 27 overs when a big breeze interrupted the match. The further play was not possible as Hong Kong pocketed two points. Aryan Lakra was playing on 52* for UAE.

Hong Kong winning both matches, are in a strong position to book a semifinal spot. They will face Bahrain on April 24 at TU Cricket Ground. Meanwhile, UAE will battle against Singapore on April 23 at TU Ground itself.
