Apex wins Inter School title

Cricnepal/Kathmandu: Apex Boarding School Rupandehi won the third Inter School National T20 Cricket Tournament defeating Suryodaya High School Jhapa by nine wickets in the final played today at Jabai Cricket Pratisthan.

Chasing the target of 74 runs, Apex made a win in just 8.2 overs losing only a wicket. Pratikshya Bashyal and Indu Verma both remaine unbeaten at 22 and 21 runs respectively. For Suryodaya, Sapana Shrestha took the only wicket.

Earlier, winning the toss, Suryodaya opted to bat first and scired 73 runs in 15 overs losing eight wickets. Roma Thapa top scored 16 runs while Geeta Prasain 12 and Sapana Shrestha 10 were some other major contributors. Indu Verma took two wickets while Soniya Paudel, Alisha KC and Barsha Rana claimed wicket apiece for Apex.

Indu Verma was asjudged the player of the final, player of the tournament and best batswoman while Sangita Rai from Suryodaya was announced best bowler.

DAV Boarding School, Sarlahi finished third defeating Buddhajyoti Boarding School Kapilvastu by 5 wickets.

Each players from winner, runner up and third placed team received cash prize of 3 thousand, 2 thousand and 1 thousand respectively. The prizes were distributed by Gangaram Sunar(Jabai Cricket Pratishthan President), Anup Thapa(Region Number 4 President and CAN general member), Prashant Malla (Rupandehi Cricket Association President), Basanta Shahi (Regional Secretary), Kulendra Pun (Regional Member), Niraj Pratap Khad(Rupandehi Cricket Association Treasurer), Pankaj Sharma(Wai Wai representative) and others.

The tournament was organized by Regional Cricket Association, Bhairahawa in co-operation with Cricket Association of Nepal. A total of 7 teams participated in the tournament though 12 were to participate.
