Avinash Karn’s magical performance: Second Nepalese bowler to grab 10-wicket haul

We all know about Mehboob Alam’s record 𝐓𝐄𝐍-𝐖𝐈𝐂𝐊𝐄𝐓 haul, but did you know another Nepali bowler has claimed TEN WICKETS?

Avinash Karn picked up all 𝐓𝐄𝐍-𝐖𝐈𝐂𝐊𝐄𝐓 in an inning in the U19 national tournament in December 2010. Playing for Region No.2 Birgunj, The left-arm pacer dismissed all batters of Region No.6 Baitadi and ended up with a figure of 6.1-1-24-10.

He bowled four batters, trapped two for lbw, and the other four others were caught out. Birgunj registered a 135-run victory in that match.

Karn has been a part of the Nepal U19 team and has featured in two T20 International matches for Nepal. He was initially selected for Nepal’s squad in the 2014 T20 World Cup but had to be withdrawn due to an injury.

Avinash Karn’s magical spell was the first time in domestic cricket history that a bowler had taken all ten wickets in a single innings. It’s important to note that prior to Karn’s accomplishment, Mehboob Alam had already secured his place in Nepali cricket history as the first bowler from Nepal to achieve this rare feat. Alam’s outstanding performance occurred during the ICC World Cricket League Division 5 Tournament held in Jersey in 2008 when he claimed all ten wickets against Mozambique.
