Avinash takes six in crushing victory

Cricnepal/Kathmandu: Region Number 2 Birgunj defeated Region Number 7 Janakpur by ten wickets in a match played during the Wai Wai Under 19 National Cricket Tournament at Pokhara today.

Winning the toss, Janakpur chose to bat first and scored a meagre total of 81 runs in 22.2 overs. Number ten batsman Pradip Sapkota top scored with 27 runs off 22 balls with four fours and a six. While, none of the other batsman make a double digit score. Five of the batsman went for duck.

Player of the match Avinash Karn took important six wickets, Irshad Ahamad claimed three while Ram Naresh Giri grabbed a wicket for Birgunj.

In reply, Birgunj’s openers Aarif Sheikh and Amit Shrestha took the team to an important win with both remaining unbeaten. Aarif scored 8 runs while Amit made 66 runs off 42 balls with eight fours and four sixes.

Region Number 4 Bhairahawa will take on Region Number 8 Pokhara in the last group stage match of Group A tomorrow.
