Baluwatar lifts the trophy

Baluwatar Cricket Training Center defeated the host Greenland Children Academy by 7 wickets to lift the trophy of the Wai Wai Women’s Regional Selection Twenty20 Cricket Tournament of Region No 3 Kathmandu at Sainik Awasiya Mahavidyalaya Ground, Bhaktapur on Sunday.

Opting to bat first, GCA made 75 runs losing 6 wickets in 20 overs. Neema Tamang remained unbeaten with 26 runs off 55 balls. Geeta Chudal contributed five runs and Purnima Ghimire added four runs for the GCA.

Sarita Magar took two wickets in two overs keeping both of them wicket-maiden overs while Neera Rajopadhyay and Arati Bidari took a wicket each.

For Baluwatar, Sarita Magar once again proved with her batting and scored unbeaten 29 runs off 28 balls to pull the victory in 12.2 overs losing three wickets. Karuna Bhandari remained unbeaten at 20 runs. Aarati Bidari scored six. Geeta Chudal and Karuna Lama claimed a wicket each for GCA.

Magar was awarded player-of-the-match award while Rajopadhyay clinched the best batswoman of the tournament with 69 runs from three matches. GCA’s bowler Chudal, who took five wickets in three group stage matches bowling 11.4 overs and giving away altogether 30 runs, bagged best bowler award.

GCA’s batswoman Tamang who scored 74 runs and took six wickets during the tournament was adjudged player-of-the-series.

Minister for Education Dinanath Sharma, Cricket Association Nepal (CAN) former Vice President and the President of Baluwatar Cricket Academy Upendra Prasad Bhattarai and tournament organizer GCA’s Principle Sunil Pradhan gave away the prizes to the winners.
