Barmy Army Cricket Nepal’s indoor tournament ends on high note with IOE Pulchowk winning the title

Barmy Army Cricket Nepal – the cricket fanbase in Nepal and the official branch of England’s Barmy Army has successfully hosted a grand inter-college indoor cricket tournament. The contest concluded on a high note on Wednesday, with IOE Pulchowk winning the trophy.

In a thrilling final, IOE Pulchowk pulled off an impressive victory against Softwarica College to emerge as the champions. They chased a target of 53 in 7.1 overs (five balls spare) to clinch the title.

Softwarica College had earlier triumphed over NATHM College in the first semifinal, while Pulchowk secured their spot in the final by defeating Kathmandu Engineering College in the second semifinal.

Pulchowk’s Rajesh Bashyal was adjudged as the best batter of the tournament, whereas Niraj Bhatta from Softwarica got the best bowler’s award. Similarly, Softwarica’s Aashish Shah was named player of the tournament for his exceptional all-round performance.

A total of 32 college teams from across the Kathmandu Valley battled in the tournament held at GHCA Indoor, Hattiban. The event received generous support from Cloud Education and Visa Services, who took on the role of the title sponsor. Additionally, several other sponsors also provided their valuable contributions to make the tournament a success.

The president of Barmy Army Nepal, Narayan Aryal, expressed his satisfaction with the inaugural inter-college tournament. “The tournament showcased a remarkable talent and passion for cricket among college students, and it indeed was a great success. We had previously hosted a couple of tournaments, and we will be coming up with a much bigger contest in the near future, including an outdoor tournament as well”, Aryal said.

Barmy Army Nepal, which was officially registered in Nepal a couple of years ago, operates under the guidance of its nine board members, led by President Narayan Prasad Aryal. Their dedication and commitment have been instrumental in fostering a vibrant cricket culture in Nepal and nurturing the fanbase of England Cricket within the country.
